Service Information
Benjamin first served a term of six months in 1780, along with his brother Nathaniel under Colonel Crooks. He served as a spy to watch the frontier and advise the settlers and the forts of the approach of Indians. He was then drafted into the militia for one month under Captain Greeg in Colonel Wallace's Regiment and for another month under Captain Wolverton. In 1782, he volunteered for three months under Captain Wolverton in Colonel Williamson's Regiment. He came to Iowa in 1853.
