Sampson was drafted on March 1, 1781 in Shenandoah County, Virginia for a term of three months. He served under Captain Pennweight in the Regiment of Colonel Edmond, and marched to Richmond, Virginia, and served under General Muhlenburg. Their forces were compelled to retreat by the British and they were then joined by the forces of General Anthony Wayne. The British were then driven back through Richmond. Sampson Price was again drafted into the militia for a term of three months in September 1781 and served under Captain Hall and Lt. Angus Price. They marched to Little York, VA with General Dark's Regiment and joined the forces of General Washington in the siege when that town was retaken. See his pension #S18167 here.
