Service Information
Entered service from Cumberland County, PA in May 1778 as a substitute for his father, Alexander Blair. He served for two months under Captain George Bell and Lt. John Wakefield. In May 1779, he again enlisted for five months in the company of Captain Henry Dougherty and Lt. Samuel Fields, under the command of General John Sullivan. Blair was disabled during the battle at Chemung. He was taken to the hospital and later rejoined his company and was discharged at Coxes Town. In June 1780, he reenlisted for seven months under the command of Captain Gilbert McCoy and was stationed at Buffalo Valley in Northumberland County. He served on the frontier until discharged in January 1781.
